About the Author
Laurie grew up in rural New Mexico and Arizona as her father worked for the United States Forest Service. While helping him take care of the government horses, the love for them grew and she dreamed of having one of her own.
Currently, she resides with her husband, Kenny and her daughter, Nizhoni. They live in Springerville, a small town within the White Mountains of Arizona near Alpine where Laurie spent most of her childhood. She and Kenny also have two grown children, Shyann, and Jace as well as their daughter-in-law Stephanie. They are proud grandparents of Shyann’s son, Peyton, and Jace and Stephanie’s daughters, Cozette and Juliet!
Laurie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in General and Special Education from Northern Arizona University and later earned a master's degree in Reading and Writing Literacy from Lesley University. She has taught over 20 years and has enjoyed teaching children in various ministries for over 30 years. This experience has given her a love for children's literature and for writing expressively in word and music. She loves playing the guitar along with singing and has recorded a CD of original songs called "Flow Through Me.” .
Laurie enjoys teaching Sunday School and leading worship music at the local church her husband pastors.
Along with her children, she has enjoyed the horses that have always been available to ride, groom and love at her father's home also in the White Mountains.
